Quick answer: Once your initial fixed storage period is over, you can end your storage agreement by giving the notice stated in your agreement. Clear all dues, then either collect your goods or ask us to deliver them — with at least 7 business days' notice. Delivery happens once all rent, delivery and labour charges are paid. Make sure your unit is fully cleared, because goods left behind more than 7 days after termination may be disposed of.
Step 1: Check your storage period and notice terms
Most storage agreements start with an initial fixed period. After that period ends, either you or Urban Self Storage can end the agreement by giving the notice mentioned in your agreement.
Before you plan your move-out date, look at your agreement for:
- When your initial fixed period ends
- How much notice you need to give
Step 2: Give notice in writing
Send your termination notice by email. Written notice creates a clear record for both sides, and it's how all formal communication under our terms works.
Step 3: Clear all pending dues
On termination, you need to pay all outstanding rent and any other amounts owed up to the termination date. The final calculation of dues is done by the facility.
If you're unsure what's pending, ask for a statement before your move-out date so there are no surprises.
Step 4: Decide how you'll get your goods back
You have two options.
Collect them yourself. Visit the facility during its posted access hours and take your goods away.
Ask us to deliver them. If you'd like Urban Self Storage to deliver your goods:
- Send your delivery request to our official email ID.
- Give at least 7 business days' advance notice.
- Agree the delivery cost with us on email. The cost covers transport, labour and related expenses. Verbal quotes don't form part of the agreement, so always get the final figure in writing.
- Pay everything in full before delivery — storage rent plus delivery and labour charges.
Step 5: Empty your unit completely
All goods must be removed from the storage space when the agreement ends. If goods are still in the unit 7 days after the termination date, the facility is authorised to dispose of them, whatever their nature or value. Don't leave anything behind — even small boxes.
